The landscape composition is not the result of a work of observation like my flowers or still lifes, or even my plein air studies but rather that of a peaceful construction in the calm of the studio. From a sketch invented or traced from memory, and gouaches executed very freely, I find my inspiration according to my dreams. I look above all for movement, which translates the momentum and strength of the design. I put up the layers, I correct the values, I add, I remove elements. Also, I practice a long time on my palette before touching the grain. Then, I apply my tones by looking for the optimal formula. The one that will bring all its subtlety to the work. It is by dint of successive superimpositions that I will perhaps succeed …

This is how I advance step by step carried by the quivering of its river-like paths, which escape into the distance and suggest forgotten memories.
